Overview
karandev.in is my portfolio, and I treat it as a technical SEO project as much as a website. Every page is built so search engines and AI assistants can understand who I am, what I have shipped and how the pages relate to each other.
I set it up end to end: metadata, structured data, crawl rules, sitemap, social cards, AI-crawler files and page speed. When Search Console flagged the résumé page as a soft 404, I traced it to an embedded PDF with no text and fixed it by rendering the résumé as real HTML.
What I built
- Added JSON-LD on every page: Person, WebSite, ProfilePage, breadcrumbs and a CreativeWork for each project
- Fixed canonical URLs to match the sitemap exactly, so Google stops picking its own canonical
- Built the sitemap and robots rules, with tests that keep the sitemap in sync with the pages
- Gave every project its own indexable case-study page with search-length titles and descriptions
- Shipped llms.txt and Markdown versions of key pages so AI assistants can read the site
- Generated Open Graph cards for every page and prerendered the home card as a static PNG
- Fixed a Search Console soft 404 on the résumé page by rendering it as real HTML
- Made name variants and handles discoverable so searches for any of them land here
- Kept the homepage fast by serving it from the static cache and loading icons as cached files
